Man with the Toyota Rental – Behind-the-Scenes

rental_promo_title
Opening title screen shot to the 2016 Labadie Toyota Rental promo short

On Thursday, December 1st, the latest adventure with Agent 11 and Inventor Z released on the Labadie Toyota Facebook and Youtube. This time, Agent 11 has infiltrated a classified bad guy facility, set an explosive device and rushed out with intentions to light it up like the 4th of July. As an amazing secret agent that he is, he succeeds. Unfortunately, he forgot to drive away in his car, leaving him stranded in a cold, snowy environment. To his aid though is his trusty Inventor, Z, whom he inquires about a vehicle replacement. (A Toyota Rental to be exact)  Hilarity ensues.

Of course the effects are cheesy, the acting is as real as it gets and Justin Stilson (Agent 11) and Shawn Garson (Inventor Z) reprise their roles flawlessly from their initial introduction in the promo “Secret Mission Scion.” This time they are joined by the talented Labadie Toyota Rental Manager, Tim Kolka, who plays as himself opposite of Justin’s character, like a pro.

What does it take to put Agent 11 in a rough environment with some high tech explosive gear? Green screen and imagination. Take a look.

Labadie Toyota customer, Steve Betters was enjoying a quiet northern drive while cruising in his 2012 Toyota Prius C north of Gaylord, Michigan Wednesday night. Suddenly, Steve’s Prius torpedoed a 400 pound northern Michigan Elk at 75 miles an hour. Fortunately, Steve walked away without a scratch. The Elk, unfortunately, did not make it.

“Secret Mission Scion” – Behind the Scenes

readytodrive
Sales Professionals, Justin Stilson (left) and Shawn Garson (right) pose in the final shot of the “Secret Mission Scion” online promo for Labadie Toyota

It takes a bit of creativity, boldness and a hint of craziness to act out a character whether in front of a live audience or camera. When Sales Professionals Justin Stilson and Shawn Garson were approached about the last Scion promo for Labadie Toyota, they were intrigued.

The promo titled “Secret Mission Scion” is obviously a spy/secret agent/James Bond parody. Agent 11, played by Justin Stilson, visits his trusty and eccentric mastermind inventor dubbed “Z” to show him the latest innovative mobile toy. (This is where the 2016 Scion TC is shown off.) The promo plays out from beginning to end in a semi serious, witty fashion. Justin and Shawn clearly nail down the mannerisms of their characters. Shawn especially tops it off with an unrecognizable, fun and quirky accent. (Most fitting for his character) For a first time gig produced in this style and genre it, these gentleman appeared comfortable in their roles and in front of the camera.

The promo released midday on October 26th, 2016 on our Facebook page. It reached over 2,000 people in a matter of hours with over 100 views per hour. It continues to climb at the writing of this article.

Writer and director, Taylor A. Gradowski (producer of the Labadie Toyota 2016 4th of July promo) believes another promo featuring these two characters may happen. As with any production, even on a small scale, there is always a bit of preparation needed beforehand.  Location and script is discussed, scenes are practiced, lighting tests and camera angles are just some of the things to consider to get the right look.

Nonetheless, the folks here at Labadie Toyota are quite creative, willing to collaborate and enjoy a bit of fun. The car business is serious business, yet to keep going you have to have fun every once in awhile.

If you’ve seen this latest video promo online and enjoyed it, we thank you for your support! We look forward to keeping you informed on our products and services available while sharing a good laugh with you as well!  Stay tuned and keep watch, because you never know what we’ll come up with next!

Happy Halloween!

labadietoyotapic_october2016
This year’s Halloween photo of Labadie Toyota. (Digitally modified)

Last night, the terrors of Halloween unleashed through out. Our stronghold (the dealership) held. We have a mighty team with a determination to withstand the strange, the scary and everything else that goes “bump” in the night. Ghosts roamed the halls, large spiders skittered from the ceiling tiles and staplers…yes, staplers flew about like bats on a mission. The terrors of the night decided to have some fun.

One shaken salesperson stated “It was pandemonium! Tried to work with customers and monsters stirred about…they did as they pleased! ”

Another salesperson, strong willed in nature, commented “We’re trained in these sort of things. Odd instances, strange happenings, potential distractions…it’s the nature of the business. If getting someone into the right vehicle means dodging a few flying haunted staplers, then we’ll do it!”
At one point an earthquake occurred and a chasm opened up in the newly paved parking lot. A large, flying beast in the sky swooped down and took a chunk out of the building. However, the folks at Labadie Toyota, pressed on. It was just another Halloween and they were prepared.

One sales person stated that he gave advice to this year’s newcomers. “I told them. Things get scary real around Halloween…and that’s all I told them.”

Others had advice for surviving. “Typically, I grab a cup of coffee or two, a newspaper and wait it out if I’m not busy. This happens every year. What I’ve found that works is…if you give the ghosts and goblins candy, they go away.”

And there you have it folks,  another Halloween in the books. Oh do we wonder if next year will be the same? Only time will tell… [The End]

From all of your friends here at Labadie Toyota, please be safe, have fun and have a Happy Halloween!

43 Years and Counting

bill_winchell
Bill “Billy” Winchell pauses for a moment for a pose and reflect on 43 years as a Detail Specialist.

43 years ago this November, a young, 17 year old started washing and detailing vehicles in 1973. That 17 year old was Bill Winchell. When Bill started, the dealership was owned by Garber Jeep Eagle (eventually purchased by Labadie Auto Company). Throughout the years he has seen many changes, people come and go and has detailed more vehicles than we can imagine. Bill mentioned that for a brief time, he tried his hand at some mechanical work. He shadowed a mechanic early on and performed tune-ups. However, he found it just was not his calling. That is when Bill decided he would continue to be a Detail Specialist.

Vehicle detailing is a very tedious line of work plagued with various challenges. It takes a certain person to know the best techniques for removing stains, treating particular fabrics, accessing the crevices to remove tiny debris and ultimately apply the perfect final touch. Tedious and timely don’t necessarily work well together, yet, if you’re a seasoned veteran like Bill, you know the tricks of the trade.

bill_winchell02
It is a rarity to not see Bill smiling. He enjoys what he does and it shows in both a smile and in his work.

Aside from vehicle detailing, Bill “Billy” is a good spirited individual. Most often you’ll see him smile and wave, wish you a good morning and/or tell you an interesting story about his latest hunting adventures. In the summer months, when the shops are very warm, Bill collects pop cans from around the dealership and purchases ice cream for all to enjoy.

We are very fortunate to have a gentleman here like Bill Winchell. He is a solid representative of the men and women who work here at Labadie Toyota. He is an excellent example of how we are dedicated to our craft, passionate about helping others and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Bill for his service and time here at Labadie Toyota!

Something a Brewin’ at Labadie Toyota

The All-New Starbucks Coffee Machine arrived at Labadie Toyota this week.

Motivation for most of us often times comes in hot cup of coffee. So we decided to kick it up a notch by bringing some high quality coffee to get the job done. A Starbucks coffee machine was the answer!

Whether you’re into coffee or hot chocolate, this new Starbucks machine makes it happen. The professional coffee connoisseurs (sales professionals) have taken a likening to this life changing piece of equipment. The reviews are in and here is what they have to say about it.

img_5988img_5987

“I was very happy to see that we brought in a Starbucks area to our waiting room. I love Starbucks and I’m sure many of our customers feel the same. Our great service area just got better! “Michael Cull (Sales Professional)

“The new Starbucks machine literally BLEW my mind. We are basically a coffee house now. Free Starbucks…….insane!”Justin Stilson (Sales Professional)

And others quipped…

“The new coffee machine is amazing! Unfortunately, you have to wait for the machine to pick the beans, roast them and then grind them to perfection. It’s worth the wait!”Al Gradowski (Sales Professional)

“The coffee at Labadie Toyota is so fresh, rumor has it that the Starbucks machine has direct plumbing to South America….” Shawn Garson (Sales Professional)

These are just some of the comments of the great reviews here at Labadie Toyota. With that in mind, we’d love to know what you think about our latest addition. Please feel free to write us or leave a comment!

Oh, did we mention it is FREE coffee? (Always a plus!)

Another great way to enjoy your time here at Labadie Toyota!
